Are fire hose reel pipes required to be thermoplastic or rubber?
We are replacing worn-out fire hoses in our residential society in Dombivli. Can we purchase cheap rubber hoses or are thermoplastic hoses mandatory under IS standards?

Fire hose reels must conform to IS 884 standards. They are required to use reinforced, heat-resistant, thermoplastic hose pipes with a minimum burst pressure rating of 35 kg/cm². Standard cheap rubber garden hoses will crack under pressure and block water flow during an emergency. Always ensure the hose is marked with IS 884 license numbers during purchases to pass building audits.
