NOC & Compliance Audits

Are fire safety audits required annually or biannually for hotels?

I run a 3-star hotel near Gateway of India, Colaba. Do we need to hire a fire expert to audit our systems every year, or is our regular maintenance vendor sufficient?

Hotels fall under Group D (Assembly) or Group F (Mercantile) depending on sizing. Because of high overnight guest occupancy, hotels must undergo a formal fire safety audit annually by a certified third-party auditor. In addition, you must submit Form B twice a year (every January and July), which requires testing by a government-licensed agency to verify that pumps, sprinkler valves, and detector grids are fully operational.
