Fire Extinguishers

How high should a fire extinguisher be mounted on a wall?

We are getting new offices furnished in Bandra. What is the standard height to mount fire extinguishers on brackets? Is there a regulation to prevent them from falling?

According to IS 2190, the carrying handle of fire extinguishers having a total weight of 4kg or less should not be mounted more than 1.5 meters (5 feet) above the floor. For heavier extinguishers (above 4kg), the handle height should not exceed 1.0 meter (3.5 feet) from the floor. This is to ensure that anyone, including shorter or older individuals, can lift them off the bracket easily during an emergency.
