We are installing new external yard hydrants at our manufacturing facility in Nashik. Our vendor is scheduling a hydrostatic test. What is the test pressure and duration required to certify the line?

According to IS 13039 guidelines, newly installed fire hydrant lines must undergo hydrostatic testing at a minimum pressure of 15 kg/cm² (approx. 215 PSI) or 1.5 times the maximum working pressure (whichever is higher) for a minimum duration of 24 hours. This ensures all welded joints and flanges can withstand pressure spikes without leaking. A detailed report must be signed by the licensed fire safety agency.
