Under IS 2190 and NBC 2016 guidelines, the maximum travel distance to reach a fire extinguisher must not exceed 15 meters (50 feet) in light or ordinary hazard occupancies. In high-hazard areas (like chemical storage or heavy kitchens), the maximum travel distance is restricted to 10 meters (30 feet). Extinguishers must be located along normal paths of travel, including near exits.
