Types of Sprinkler Systems We Install

1. Standard Spray Sprinkler Systems (Commercial/Industrial)

Best for: Offices, hotels, hospitals, retail stores, low-bay warehouses (ceiling height <8m), residential buildings.

How it works: Sprinkler heads are spaced per NFPA 13/IS 15105 (typically 15–20 sqm per head). Each head is individually activated by heat (usually a 68°C glass bulb or fusible link). Only the head(s) directly over the fire activate — not all heads.

Design density: Based on occupancy classification (light hazard, ordinary hazard group 1/2, extra hazard).

2. ESFR (Early Suppression Fast Response) Sprinklers for Warehouses

Best for: High-bay warehouses (ceiling height up to 13.7m), storage of palletized goods, e-commerce fulfilment centres.

How it works: ESFR heads produce large water droplets (high momentum) that penetrate the fire plume to reach the burning fuel at floor level. They are designed to suppress the fire (knock it down) not merely control it.

Advantage: When ESFR is used, no in-rack sprinklers are required — saving installation and maintenance cost.

Requirement: Minimum 3.5 bar at the ESFR head, high-capacity water supply (2,000–3,000 litres per minute).

3. In-Rack Sprinkler Systems (for Very High Storage)

Best for: Warehouses with storage exceeding 10.7m height, high-hazard commodities (Group A plastics, aerosols, flammable liquids in plastic containers), or where ESFR is not suitable.

How it works: Sprinklers are installed within the racking structure at intermediate levels (every 3m of rack height). They attack the fire at its source before it can grow vertically.

4. Foam-Water Sprinkler Systems (for Flammable Liquid Hazards)

Best for: Warehouses storing flammable liquids, paints, solvents, alcohol; aircraft hangars; chemical plants.

How it works: Foam concentrate is injected into the water supply, discharging a foam solution that forms a blanket over burning liquids. FirePause uses PFAS-free fluorine-free foam (F3) where possible.

5. Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems (for Sensitive Areas)

Best for: Data centres, museums, archives, cold storage — where accidental sprinkler discharge would be catastrophic.

How it works: Water only enters the piping when a separate detection system (smoke/heat) confirms a real fire. A second activation (bulb or fusible link) then releases water. Double interlock prevents accidental discharge.
